What Was the Experiences Collection by Welk Resorts?
The Experiences Collection by Welk Resorts let you use points at affiliated resorts as a Welk Platinum owner. Welk owners vacationed with points rather than a fixed week. Moreover, Welk offered multiple membership tiers, with Platinum carrying the most benefits.

What Happened to Welk Resorts?
Marriott Vacations Worldwide completed its acquisition of Welk Resorts on April 1, 2021. Former Welk resorts now carry the Hyatt Vacation Club brand, which launched on August 24, 2023. The launch connected former Welk and Hyatt Residence Club properties across 22 branded resorts.
The Welk Resorts acquisition covered eight ownership resorts, primarily on the West Coast. Those resorts spanned California, Colorado, Missouri and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. For example, Escondido, California, had three: Welk Resort Villas, Villas On The Green and Mountain Villas.
Moreover, Hyatt Vacation Club groups former Welk resorts in The Platinum Collection. Former Hyatt Residence Club resorts make up The Heritage Collection. So if you remember the Experiences Collection by Welk Resorts, you can find former Welk resorts under Hyatt Vacation Club.
Inspired Activities vs. the Experiences Collection by Welk Resorts
Inspired Activities & Experiences offers locally inspired activities for owners and guests at all Hyatt Vacation Club properties. The program features activities on and off property. However, the Experiences Collection by Welk Resorts let Welk Platinum owners use points at affiliated resorts.
Each resort offers its own locally inspired activities. For example, every resort has its own Around the Town Scavenger Hunt. Ask the front desk about its Apple and Android app.
At the August 2023 launch, Hyatt Vacation Club used three labels:
- Explore: local art walks and signature scavenger hunts.
- Engage: tasting events with locally sourced ingredients.
- Express: beach or trail clean-ups and food drives.
Hyatt Vacation Club’s Inspired Activities & Experiences page calls the program reimagined without those labels. Additional fees and costs may apply; some activities may require good health and a certain skill level. Moreover, activities and events can change. BEYOND is not officially a new version of the Experiences Collection by Welk Resorts. Hyatt Vacation Club’s BEYOND lets eligible Platinum and Portfolio Points owners use points beyond its resorts. However, you shouldn’t count on BEYOND when buying resale. Confirm your eligibility with Hyatt Vacation Club before you buy.
Our resale guide names BEYOND among retail-only benefits. Access for Platinum Points owners runs through the Hyatt Vacation Club Platinum Exchange Program. Portfolio Points owners access BEYOND through the HPC Club Benefits Program. So eligibility depends on the applicable program documents.
BEYOND offers small-group guided tours and cruises to Alaska, the Mediterranean, the Greek Islands and the Caribbean. Moreover, eligible owners can use points for all-inclusive hotel stays through a trial program. Hyatt Vacation Club may change or end BEYOND without notice.
Destination Credit converts points into credit for eligible on-site food, drinks, activities and merchandise at participating Hyatt Vacation Club resorts. Activate it at the Concierge desk. However, credit expires at checkout, and unused credit is nonrefundable.
Buying Welk Timeshares on the Resale Market
