Salem is nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of Northeastern Ohio and is centrally located about 65 miles from both Pittsburgh and Cleveland. Founded and settled in 1806, the city was active in the early anti-slavery movement of the early-to-mid 1800's. Still standing are many of the beautiful homes connecting the famous Underground Railroad with their hidden rooms and secret passageways. Salem offers the best of many worlds - including a variety of activities ranging from visiting Salem's Historical Society Museum and the Butler Institute of American Art to evening enjoyment provided by the Salem Community Theatre and a wide variety of Pub-style entertainments.
