What are timeshare week numbers and how do they work?
A key part of answering the question “How do timeshares work?” lies in understanding the weeks system. The purpose of dividing the year into weeks is to clearly define each owner’s usage. Typically, resorts assign a week number to each week starting with “week 1” in January. Most timeshare calendar years have 52 weeks, with the exception of years that have 53 weeks. This happens every few years. Usually, the additional 53rd week gets added onto week 52, making it one of the most valuable week intervals of the year.
At most resorts, the check in days usually fall at the end of the week on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. It is a good idea to verify the check-in date with your resort when planning your next vacation.
